Katsuhiro Otomo’s Memories #1 (1992)

Katsuhiro Otomo’s Memories #1 is a rare English-language one-shot from Epic Comics, featuring Otomo’s science-fiction story that later inspired the “Magnetic Rose” segment of the 1995 animated film Memories. Originally published in 1992, the 32-page comic was written and illustrated by Otomo and colorized by Steve Oliff.

Three space adventurers answer a mysterious signal deep in space and discover a massive collection of abandoned spacecraft arranged around a strange rose-shaped structure. As they investigate the seemingly deserted vessel, familiar objects and artificial servants begin to reveal a much darker secret.
